Hello, My name is Sam. I'm a 20 year old Purdue student currently in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I lived in Georgia until first grade and then moved to the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana to small town called New Palestine. All throughout middle school and high school, I couldn’t find a sport that quite fit me right besides Motocross, so my brother and I raced the ATVA nationals. Once I got to Purdue, It became hard to continue to pursue motocross, so I focused on mountain biking and found the Purdue Outing Club. I love the outdoors, wilderness and anything that can keep me in them.  Currently I am a Mountain Biking consultant for the club and lead crazy trips that lead to unforgettable memories with great people. I heard about Bike & Build through friends I met at Purdue that have done it previous years. Every time I time talked to any of them about their trip, the amount of excitement in their response showed how much of an experience it must have been. Bike & Build has always been in the back of my mind since they started fundraising for 2013. I chose to raise money for affordable housing due to Scouting and Habit for Humanity. Through 12 years of Scouting and earning my Eagle Scout, it has shown me the importance of community involvement and the difference it can make. From leading a project for the community, to just lending a hand, or donating. Anything can make a difference. From the Habitat for Humanity’s Cover Indiana ride, I really learned how Affordable housing can make this difference. Affordable housing opportunities offer opportunity for everyone to become part of a community. I feel that Bike & Build will help me spread this message for affordable housing while completing something I look back on for the rest of my life. I’m excited to bike across the country because I’ll be able to view this country from a completely different perspective. Doing the Cover Indiana really opened my eyes to how much you take in cycling and riding my bike all the way across this beautiful country seems like the best way to take it in. I want to get out of Indiana and ride through the mountains this country has to offer. I don’t see any other better way to spend this summer than riding cross country for a great cause. Thanks for Reading, Sam Moan
