Amelia's bio:

Hi! My name is Amelia Wildenborg, I am a Sophomore at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. I am majoring in Accounting and minoring in Religion. I play soccer for my school and absolutely love it! I also enjoy playing tennis and I LOVE riding my bike. Last summer when the gas prices rose high, I was determined to spend the least amount of money possible on gas. That's when I really started riding my bike a lot. I rode to work everyday, to the store, to the movies, shopping...yes sometimes I did show up sweaty.

When one of my good friends first told me about this organization, we were sitting in Accounting class. She passed me a note and later told me that after I had read the note about what this organization was, my mouth dropped and my eyes got big like ET...now that’s what she calls me. I spent the rest of that afternoon looking at the website, and fell hard for this organization. It took me two days to realize that this opportunity was only going to come once in my life, and that I had to take it!

I am extremely excited about the opportunity to bike across the US, but its even more amazing that along the way I will be able to help build houses and raise awareness about the affordable housing cause. I am particularly pleased about getting my hands dirty and building something for someone who needs my help. I am a big believer that one person can make a difference; so just thinking about a group of people all working together building a house sends shivers down my spine.

I love to travel and see different parts of the world. Last year my friend and I "WWOOFed" on an organic farm in Ireland, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I also hope to study abroad in Australia next year and learn about life in the sun! :) I am really looking forward to traveling through different small towns in the US, on a bike, and meeting new people close by!
